Knoxville Store Burglarized: $22,000 Jersey Theft

In Knoxville, a daring burglary at Underdog Collectibles left the store reeling as $22,000 worth of autographed jerseys were snatched by the bold thief, Cody Denning. Denning’s crime spree came to an end when he was apprehended and charged with various offenses, including burglary, theft of property, and vandalism. The Knoxville Police Department swiftly acted on the incident, providing details of Denning’s illicit activities during the break-in.

The theft, which occurred on May 18, unfolded with chilling precision. Denning was seen scouting the store earlier, meticulously eyeing the valuable jerseys he would later filch. Surveillance cameras captured his initial visit, during which he examined and strategically rearranged the jerseys, possibly planning his heist. Hours later, he brazenly shattered the storefront window, gaining unlawful entry to the premises, where he committed two successive thefts, making away with a total of 17 prized autographed jerseys.

Denning’s audacious attempts to offload some of the stolen goods were captured on camera as he tried to sell two of the jerseys at a local sports retailer, Pro Image Sports in West Town Mall. The authorities also uncovered incriminating evidence in his vehicle, linking him to the theft of multiple hats from the store. The meticulous investigation by law enforcement painted a comprehensive picture of Denning’s involvement in the criminal activities.

In the wake of the robbery, Underdog Collectibles took to social media to solicit public support in recovering the stolen jerseys. Urging vigilance and assistance from the community, the store appealed to anyone who might come across the pilfered items to reach out for further verification using the provided serial numbers. The collaborative efforts of law enforcement and the public were deemed critical in bringing the perpetrator to justice and salvaging the stolen merchandise.

Despite the harrowing ordeal, Underdog Collectibles reassured its patrons that the physical damage to the store was minimal, and thankfully, no injuries were sustained during the break-in. The store’s resilience in the face of adversity was exemplified by their proactive approach in engaging the public to aid in the retrieval of the stolen jerseys, with the fervent hope of thwarting any potential future thefts. The unwavering support of the community echoed the sentiment that unity and solidarity can triumph over criminal acts, ensuring that justice prevails.
