The missing collection, consisting of 54 rare cards carefully curated by Memory Lane Auctions, was set to be showcased at the event. The disappearance of these precious items, including unique post-War issues and prized cards of legends like Mickey Mantle and Roberto Clemente, has stirred the collector community.
The trail of the stolen cards leads back to California, where Memory Lane Auctions had dispatched the shipment from its headquarters to Ohio. The package was tracked until it reached the Best Western Plus Hotel, where it was received, as per security footage. However, before a Memory Lane representative could secure it, the package mysteriously vanished, leaving a void at the convention grounds during April 19-21.
The missing cards, comprising rare T206 tobacco cards, 1914 Cracker Jack cards, Brunner’s Bread cards from 1911-14, and early Exhibit cards, highlight the extent of the loss.
