In the world of sports memorabilia, few items stir as much excitement as rare baseball cards, and the PWCC December Premier Auction is no exception. Collectors from around the world have their eyes on this auction, as it features two of the most coveted cards from the legendary T206 set, known as the Big Four.
One of the standout cards in this auction is an SGC 1 graded T206 Eddie Plank card. Only 39 of these cards have received a grade from SGC, with an additional 21 graded by PSA. Despite showing signs of age and wear, including paper loss, creasing, and corner and edge damage, the rarity and value of the Plank card remain undisputed. Its appearance at auction is a noteworthy event, marking the fourth time this year a Plank card has been available for purchase. Previous sales of Plank cards include an SGC 1 variant that fetched $75,000 in February and a PSA 2.5 variant that commanded $168,000 in August.
Joining the Plank card is the PSA 2 graded Sherry "Magie" error card, another prestigious item from the T206 set. This card features a misspelling of Sherry Magee's last name, and it is highly sought after by collectors. The Magie error card is on par with other renowned rarities in the collection, such as the T206 Honus Wagner and the "NY Nat'l" Joe Doyle cards.
While the Plank and Magie cards are the highlights of the auction, there are also other impressive items up for bidding. The auction features a range of Michael Jordan cards, a testament to the enduring legacy and popularity of the basketball legend. Some of the notable Jordan cards include the 1997 Metal Universe Championship Precious Metals card graded BGS 9 with a limited edition of 50, the 1998 Skybox Premium Star Rookies card graded PSA 8 with a limited edition of 50, the 1997 Skybox E-X 2001 Essential Credentials Future card graded PSA 9 with a limited edition of 72, and the 1984-85 Star Company XRC card in both PSA 8 and BGS 9 grades.
Additionally, the auction showcases modern hockey treasures, such as the 2015-16 Upper Deck The Cup Gold Foil Connor McDavid RPA card with a limited edition of 12 and the 2005 Upper Deck The Cup Sidney Crosby RPA card with a limited edition of 99, both graded BGS 8.
The PWCC December Premier Auction started recently and will continue accepting bids until December 21st. This auction provides collectors with a rare opportunity to own a piece of sports history, from the highly sought-after T206 cards to the iconic Michael Jordan and hockey cards. Don't miss out on the chance to bid for these incredible items and add them to your collection.
